  • What is the Home Try-On program?

    You get to select any five frames from our collection and test them out at home for 5 days. You can try on your favorite five in the convenience of your own home. The home try-on program is absolutely free, and it even includes free shipping and return. And if you’re having trouble deciding on a frame, reach out to us on social media using #BBMTryOn. Please note that we are only able to ship Home Try-On orders within the U.S.

  • Can you help me pick out a frame?

    Finding the right pair of glasses can be tricky business so we’re here to help. If you need a second opinion, you can always post your pictures on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #BBMTryOn and we’ll let you know what we think. You can also email us at and we’ll get back to you asap.

  • I thought the Home Try-On program was free-why do you need my credit card?

    The Home Try-On program is absolutely free! During the checkout process, you will be asked to provide a valid credit or debit card before completing your order. We require your credit or debit card information for security purposes, but rest assured that the Home Try-On program is a totally free five-day trial. You may see a $1.00 authorization on your card account after placing the order, but this will disappear once we verify the card information, usually within 48 hours.

    If you do not return your Home Try-On kit, or if the frames are damaged, we will need to charge the card of file for the full price for each outstanding or damaged item. The charge is $85.50 per item. This is our full retail price for frames without prescription lenses. In order to avoid this charge, your Home Try-On will need to be postmarked (on its way back to BBM Eyewear) by the fifth full day after delivery. (We’ll send you an email reminder so you don’t forget.) If your Home Try-On period ends on a weekend or holiday, just drop it in the mail on the next available day. If you need an extra day or two, no problem-just call us and we’ll work something out.

  • I ordered another Home Try-On. Why is it delayed?

    In order to allow all of our customers to experience the Home Try-On, we only send one kit at a time. After we receive your current order, feel free to order another and we’ll ship your new kit.

  • What do I need to order?

    After you’ve picked our your favorite pair of frames, you’ll need a valid eyeglasses prescription (make sure it’s not for contact lenses!) from your optometrist. You’ll need the prescription from your doctor, as well as your papillary distance (PD). Your PD is the distance in millimeters between your pupils, and it helps us center your prescription correctly in your frames. If you can’t find your PD on the prescription, you can measure it by following the steps below. If you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself, you can stop by any optometrist – some will do it for free, and others may charge a small fee. If you are charged, just send us a receipt and we’ll credit your order up to $50.

  • What if I need to change my order?

  • What’s the status of my order?

  • How do I order multiple pairs of glasses with different prescriptions?

    If you are ordering multiple pairs of glasses with different prescriptions, please place separate orders for each one. Shipping is always free so don’t worry about any extra charges. Shipping is on us.

  • Interested in placing a bigger order?

  • How do I submit my prescription?

    Once you’re ready to checkout, you’ll be asked to upload an image of your eyeglasses prescription to your order; you can either snap a picture or scan it in. If you’ve already placed an order, email the image of your prescription to Remember to send it your papillary distance (PD) so that we can center your prescription correctly in your frames. Please keep in mind that we need your prescription in order to proceed so send that info in ASAP!

    If you don’t have a prescription from your doctor, simply send us your doctor’s information during checkout and we’ll get your prescription details for you.

  • How do I measure my papillary distance?

    You can measure your papillary distance by following these simple steps

    1. Place the millimeter ruler on the bridge of your nose.
    2. Have a friend face you about arms length away.
    3. Have your friend measure the distance between the center of your pupils (the black dots in the middle of your eyes).
    4. (Or you can do it yourself simply by looking in the mirror).

    Or you can visit a local optical shop or optometrist office. Most will measure your PD for free of a small fee. If you are required to pay, we are more than happy to give you credit for the cost of one PD measurement (up to $50) within 10 days of purchase. Simply submit a copy of your receipt to

    Please note: we’re unable to fill expired eyeglasses prescriptions as well as prescriptions for contact lenses. If there is no expiration date written on your prescription, Warby Parker will fulfill the order only if the current date is within two years from the date of the exam.

  • How do I obtain a prescription?

    Make an appointment with your local optometrist, or find an available doctor through ZocDoc. Ask your doctor to include your pupillary distance (PD) on your prescription.

  • What do all these abbreviations on my prescription mean?
    • ADD: How much power gets added to the distance Rx for your reading-only Rx OR for the bottom half of your bifocals/progressives.
    • AR or A/R: Your doctor is recommending an anti-reflective coating on your eyeglasses.
    • CYL or cyl: CYLINDER power. The amount of astigmatism. It will have either a minus (-) sign or plus (+) sign in front of it.
    • D.S. or DS: diopters sphere. Diopters is the unit of power in eyeglasses (like watts in a light bulb). This is a place-holder meaning you have only sphere power and no astigmatism.
    • D.V. or DV: distance-vision. The distance portion of your prescription.
    • DVO: distance-vision-only. Glasses that are not for reading-only, not bifocals, and not progressives ("no-lines")
    • SPH : SPHERE power. The "overall" power in your eyeglasses. Sometimes SPH or sph is written as a place-holder in your prescription in the CYL column.
    • N.V. or NV: near-vision prescription for up-close vision.
    • NVO: near-vision-only. A prescription for reading-only glasses.
    • O.D. or OD: right eye
    • O.S. or OS: left eye
    • O.U. or OU: both eyes
    • P.D. or PD: pupillary distance. The distance between your right pupil and your left pupil in millimeters (mm).
    • PL or pl or plo Plano. This is a placeholder for the number zero.
    • PLANO: A placeholder for the number zero.
    • POLY: Your doctor is recommending polycarbonate lenses.
    • PRISM: A component a doctor may add to a prescription for people with double-vision or certain special types of eyestrain.
    • P : An abbreviation for prism. It may also be followed by the location of the bottom (base) of the prism, like base-up (BU or UP), base-down (BD or DOWN), base-in (BI or IN), or base-out (BO or OUT). If you see any of these terms type them into your order comments or call us.
    • TRANS: Your doctor has recommended genuine Transitions' lenses.
    • X AXIS: X 180 means AXIS 180. It describes the angle in degrees where your astigmatism power is.

  • Prescription Sunglasses

    If you’d like prescription sunglasses, we can fulfill your order up to a combined sphere and cylinder value of -7.00. Some of our smaller sunglasses frames can accommodate slightly stronger prescriptions. We also offer progressive lenses and are currently able to accommodate ADD powers that fall between +0.75 and +3.75.   • What range of values are you able to fill for prism lenses?

    We can fill prism values up to 6 diopters combined for single-vision, and up to 5 diopters combined for progressives. If we are unable to fill your prescription, you can still purchase our frames. Call us at 213.386.6177, Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. PST to purchase a pair of frames with demo lenses for 10% off. Just take them to your doctor and you’re all set.

  • Do you offer bifocal or progressive lenses?

    If you’d like progressive lenses, we offer them starting at $295, at our stores and online. We do not currently offer bifocal lenses, but if your doctor has written this type of prescription for you, we can fill them as progressives (similar to no-line bifocals) or as single-vision. If you would like single-vision lenses, please write your preference for distance or reading right on the prescription itself, or call us at 213.386.6177, Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. PST, to let us know what you’d like.

  • What is the difference between single-vision and progressive lenses?

    Single-vision lenses offer one correction throughout the entire lens (usually for distance or reading).

    Progressive lenses offer multiple focal corrections in one lens, providing a seamless transition from distance correction on top to reading correction on bottom. This means you can see your whole field of vision without switching between multiple pairs of glasses. (Neat.)

    Progressive prescriptions typically include an ADD value, which you can get from your optometrist.

  • Can you make lenses with a prism correction?

    Yes! Pricing is based on your specific prescription values, as well as the type of lenses you choose to purchase. We’re happy to help you figure out the best lenses for you based on your prescription strength. Give us a call at 213.386.6177, Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. PST.

  • Where can I find my frame’s measurements?

    On each product page, the frame measurements are listed as three numbers. The first number refers to the width of one lens in millimeters, the second number to the width of the bridge, and the third to the length of one of the temple arms. Most glasses have these numbers printed on the inside of the temple arm.

  • Where can I get my BBM Eyewear frames adjusted?

    If your frames don’t fit you perfectly, simply take them to an optical shop. Most shops will make adjustments for free of a small fee. If you do incur a small fee, simply send us an electronic copy of the bill and we’ll reimburse you the cost of one adjustment (up to $50) within 30 days of purchase.

    What’s the best way to clean my lenses?

    For light smudges, a few wipes with the included cleaning cloth should do the trick. From time to time, your lenses may need a more thorough cleaning. Simply rinse them through lukewarm water and use a mild dish soap and dry with a soft cloth. Please be careful not to use hot water on your glasses as the heat my cause bubbles or crack to form in your lenses and frames.

  • When will I get my order?

    The processing time depends on several things: the type of order, whether your order is complete (do we have your prescription?), and when you place it. Here’s what you can expect:

    Single-vision glasses and sunglasses: 7-10 business days
    Progressive glasses and sunglasses: 10-12 business days
    Non-prescription glasses: 5 business days
    Non-prescription sunglasses (standard shipping, free): 5 business days
    Home Try-On: 5 business days

  • What does shipping cost?

    We offer free standard shipping and exchanges in the U.S.

  • Do you have international shipping?

    Currently, we only ship to the United States.

  • Can I get my glasses expedited?

    Currently, we only offer standard shipping. But if you really need your glasses in a hurry, give us a call at 213.386.6177, Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. PST and we’ll try to work something out.

  • What is your return policy?

    We have a 30-day, no-questions-asked return policy for all of our eyewear. Additionally, we have a one-year, no-scratch guarantee for our lenses, and we’ll replace your lenses free of charge within that timeline. Sorry but gift card purchases are non-refundable.

  • How do I set up a return?

  • What if I’m not happy with the fit of my frames?

    Our glasses are available in one size so they may need some adjustments to give it the perfect fit. Most optical shops will make minor adjustment for free of a small fee. If you do incur a charge, simply email us a copy of the receipt within 30 days of purchase to and we’ll reimburse you the cost of one adjustment (up to $50).

  • What do I do if I’m experiencing issues with my prescription?

    It may take a few days to adjust to your new glasses, especially if the prescription in new. If you’re having ongoing trouble with your glasses, give us a call at 213.386-6177, Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. PST. We’ll help determine the issue so that we can re-make your glasses, if needed, and make sure that your prescription is just right!

  • How do I get a lens replacement?

    We can’t replace lenses in non-BBM Eyewear frames, but we are happy to put brand new lenses into your BBM Eyewear glasses and sunglasses. If your BBM Eyewear lenses are scratched within the first year, we’ll replace them for you absolutely free! Insurance and payment
  • Do you accept insurance as payment for my eyeglasses?

    We don’t accept insurance as payment, but we can provide you with a receipt to use when applying for reimbursement.

  • What is a flexible spending account?

    A flexible spending account is also known as an FSA. Like a health savings account (HSA), it’s a program that allows you to set aside money (before taxes) for specific health care expenses. If you’re unsure whether or not you have an FSA, please check with your insurance company.

  • What can I purchase with my FSA?

    BBM Eyewear accepts FSA dollars for all prescription eyewear purchases (this includes prescription sunglasses and progressives too!) and exams, as long as your FSA or HSA (health savings account) card is affiliated with a major credit card. If you would like to use your FSA or HSA card to pay for a portion of your purchase and apply the remaining balance to a different card, please call us at 213.386.6177, Monday–Friday, 10:30 a.m.–7 p.m. PST. We’re happy to set that up.

  • If I’m using my FSA to purchase prescription eyewear, do I need to do anything special when I order?

    Just make sure you have an up-to-date prescription and your pupillary distance (PD). Your PD is the distance in millimeters between your pupils and helps us center your prescription correctly in your frames. If your doctor did not include your PD on your prescription, you can measure it using our online tool here.

  • How do I get an itemized receipt?
